Estimate DigitalOcean Spaces object storage costs including storage, bandwidth, and CDN.
Last verified: May 2026
250 GB included in $5/mo base plan. Overage: $0.02/GB.
1 TB (1,024 GB) included. Overage: $0.01/GB.
Output will appear here...The estimator starts with the $5/month base subscription, then adds overage lines for storage above 250 GB and transfer above 1 TB at the published per-GB rates. CDN usage is modeled by estimating the cache hit ratio (default 90%) and reducing the origin transfer accordingly. Request charges are applied based on tier (lower price per 1,000 GETs, higher per 1,000 PUTs). The total is presented with each line itemized.
DigitalOcean Spaces costs $5/month for the first 250 GB of storage and 1 TB of outbound transfer, and a low per-GB rate above that — predictable, but the CDN, request volume, and overage tiers can still surprise you. The DO Spaces Cost Estimator models a workload's storage volume, monthly transfer, request count, and CDN usage to produce a monthly bill with a per-line breakdown so you can see whether storage, transfer, or requests will dominate.
You are considering migrating a 4 TB asset library from AWS S3 (currently costing $115/month including egress) to DigitalOcean Spaces. The estimator models 4 TB storage, 800 GB monthly egress, 2 million GETs, and 50,000 PUTs at $5 base + storage overage at $0.02/GB + included transfer. Total: about $80/month, plus you get the CDN included rather than paying for CloudFront separately. Migration penciled in for next sprint.
If you are storing more than 1 TB of cold archival data, S3 Glacier or Cloudflare R2 will be meaningfully cheaper per gigabyte. Spaces is competitive for working data and CDN-fronted assets but is not optimized for deep archive.
Watch the request count for image-heavy sites. Each thumbnail load is a GET, and a busy product catalog can easily make millions of requests per month. The included request allowance is generous but not unlimited.
The $5 base subscription covers your entire DigitalOcean account, regardless of how many Spaces you create. The 250 GB storage and 1 TB transfer are pooled across all Spaces and overages are billed at the per-GB rate. Creating five Spaces does not multiply the base cost; it just gives you five buckets sharing the same allowance.
Enabling the CDN replaces direct Spaces egress with CDN edge delivery. The CDN itself is included in the base price; it does not add a separate line item. What changes is the geographic distribution of egress — cached content served from edges does not count against your origin transfer budget, only cache misses do. For a high-traffic static site, this can reduce origin transfer by 80-95%.
