Compare region count, edge locations, and service availability across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI.
Output will appear here...A comparison of global infrastructure footprint across AWS (33 regions, 105 AZs), Azure (60+ regions across 140+ countries), GCP (40+ regions, 121+ zones), and OCI (49 commercial + government regions), and raw region count alone is a misleading proxy for actual usability: Azure's much larger region count reflects a broader but less uniformly-provisioned footprint where service availability is explicitly documented as varying significantly by region (Azure's own guidance is to check the Products by Region page), whereas OCI states all its regions are built to the same standard, meaning a smaller region count with more consistent per-region service parity.
Total region count is a weak signal for whether your specific service is available where you need it, always check the provider's own region-service availability matrix for your exact service and target region rather than assuming a large total region count implies broad service parity.
A 'planned' region in this comparison (several are listed as announced-but-not-live across all four providers) isn't a substitute for a live GA region, don't architect a launch timeline around a planned region without independently confirming its current GA status.
Government/sovereign cloud partitions are usually operationally and even physically separate from commercial regions, a workload straddling both needs an explicit connectivity and identity-federation plan, it's not simply 'another region' to deploy into.
The comparison table is a static, hand-maintained dataset of feature rows grouped by category (overview, regions, edge, compliance) with free-text search across all fields; it's a reference snapshot, and region counts specifically change frequently as providers launch new regions, always verify current counts and service-availability-by-region directly with the provider before an architecture decision that depends on regional presence.
